Week 1:
Breakfalls
Gripping (how to grip the jacket)
Movement (how to move around the mat)
Osoto Gari (this is a throw to the rear)
Sasai Tsuri Komi Ashi (this is a trip to the front which works beautifully with Osoto Gari)
Kesa gatami and escape (the pin that made Judo famous!)
Week 2:
Seonage (this is a spectacular shoulder throw)
Muni gatami and escape (a devastating pin for your opponent)
Double arm turn over (how to turn your opponent over when they are getting up so you can pin them or tap them out)
Week 3:
Tai Otoshi (this is a forward throw which will make you look like a ninja!)
Okuri Ashi Barai (a lovely foot sweep which relies on perfect timing)
Guard passing (how to pass your opponents legs when they are trying to defend themselves)
Sweeping ( how to sweep your opponent when they are trying to pass your guard)
Week 4:
Butskari (this is the core skill required for most throws – breaking balance)
Ouchi Gari (this is an inside trip which will floor your opponent)
Rear naked strangle and escape (the most common way to strangle your opponent unconscious – don’t worry no one will be going to sleep as we will also teach you how to tap out!)
Juji Gatami and escape (the most common way to break your opponents arm – if they don’t tap out)
