Dave has been a black belt for nearly 40 years, he is now a 6th Dan and has competed for Team GB in competitions and training camps across the world.
Dave says that the path he has taken has given him them best of two worlds: a single journey where he learnt the lessons of patience, humility, a strong work ethic, honesty, fighting spirit and great Judo in both victory and defeat.
Dave trained under 8th Dan Akinori Hosaka (origin of Hosaka Judo) and under 9th Dan and Team GB coach Neil Adams during the nineties, gaining a wealth of experience in the process.
Dave is a fully qualified BJC coach and his mission today is to share his Judo expertise and knowledge with as many people as possible to help them progress in various areas of life.
He has a great depth of understanding Judo at all levels from the beginner to the top international fighter, he has a very motivational style of coaching and extremely personable with children and adults from beginner to national standard.

"I was taught by Dave and Tom for four years whilst studying in the Warwick area. Seeing how they taught beginners and subsequently enriched their lives was a pleasure to behold. Further to this they are both amazing at instilling confidence even in those who lack it. They truly live by Kano’s motto that it is the duty of the strong to protect the weak."

"During my time at Warwick I was one of the privileged individuals, who were able to learn from Dave and Tom and become part of the judo/bjj family. Skill, passion, humility and kindness were combined into a great program, that allowed you to grow individually and as a team!"

"Dave and Tom create a safe and inclusive environment for students and instill the values of judo in all students that wish to learn. I gained a great deal of confidence, humility and physical benefit from attending their classes. Dave and Tom are amazing people, they have helped me overcome challenges I could never have achieved alone and celebrated with me when I succeed."
